CEREC Same Day Dental Crown
Dacula, GA

Dental assistant assisting with CEREC technology for Same Day Dental Crowns from Lanier Valley Dentistry in Dacula, GAMany patients come to Lanier Valley Dentistry looking for crowns for different reasons. Crowns are prosthetic caps that are used to cover a damaged tooth. They are a perfect solution for decayed, discolored, or broken teeth. Ordinary crowns take time to manufacture. You’ll have to leave our dentist’s office without the crowns after your first appointment.

CEREC crowns are a solution to that problem. The CEREC crown technology allows you to get your permanent crown with a single appointment. Imagine having to go for an important meeting with a weird looking tooth. A CEREC crown ensures you do not have to deal with any such embarrassments. You will walk out of our clinics feeling confident and with a bright smile.

What is CEREC?

CEREC is an abbreviation for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. CEREC technology involves the use of CAD/CAM systems to produce the crown. Computers can image the abutment in your month and create a perfectly fitting crown.

Our dentists use the CAD/CAM computer systems to take and record precise images of your teeth. The systems will generate a digital model of the crown you need. A ceramic block is then put into the CAD/CAM system which mills it into a crown. The systems will also shade the crown to ensure it matches the other teeth in your mouth.

Ordinary vs. CEREC Crowns

Apart from the obvious difference in the time taken to complete the installation process, there are a couple of other differences between CEREC and traditional crowns. One of the most prominent differences is you have no choice of material with CEREC crowns. All CEREC crowns are made of ceramic. If you are looking for gold or porcelain crowns, you’ll have to go down the traditional crowns route.

The biggest benefit of CEREC crowns is the short amount of time taken to get them installed, but you also get a better quality of crown. CEREC crowns are precise and fit accurately. It is often quite difficult for anyone to tell your CEREC crown apart from your natural teeth.

There are misconceptions that CEREC crowns might not be as durable as traditional ones. On the contrary, they are quite durable and will last for over a decade if you take good care of them. CEREC crowns are permanently attached to your tooth using a special adhesive. You should never try to remove them. If you must get them off for one reason or the other, you’ll need to come back to our office.

The other common question is about the cost of CEREC crowns. The cost is no different from that of traditional crowns. You might end up saving some money since the appointments required will be lesser.

Always remember to practice proper oral hygiene to ensure your teeth stay in good condition. Also, your periodic dental checkups will go a long way in ensuring your crowns last longer.
