Mouth Guard Dacula GA

We at Lanier Valley Dentistry will be glad to make your mouthguard for you. Mouthguards are devices worn over the teeth to shield them from hits and blows received to the head and face during sports or any activity that might result in mouth injury. For anyone participating in any form of sport involving flying equipment, falls, body contacts and collisions wearing a mouthguard is of necessity.

People engaging in sports like basketball, football, hockey, baseball, gymnastics, skateboarding, and mountain biking should make use of mouthguards. Mouthguards are also called mouth protectors or sports guards. They provide cover to the upper teeth and help to prevent damage to your mouth like cut lips, broken teeth, etc. They also help to prevent concussions.

Mouthguards play an important role in protecting your teeth from injuries during sports. There are three main types of mouthguards, namely stock mouthguard, custom-made mouthguards and boil and bite mouthguards. Stock mouthguards are not so expensive, but because they are ready-made, they often do not fit very well and are not comfortable. They sometimes make talking and breathing somewhat difficult. Custom-made mouthguards are usually comfortable and fit well because they are made specifically for you.

We make an impression of your teeth and construct it over a model of them. They are usually more expensive than stock mouthguards. Boil and bite mouthguards are usually ready-made but can be altered to fit your teeth. These mouthguards can be boiled in water to make the plastic flexible, and then you bite into the plastic to make an impression of your teeth. This way, you have a mouthguard well fitted to the shape and size of your teeth.

Mouthguard Construction

Constructing a mouthguard takes just a few steps. First of all, we will have to know the kind of sport you are involved in and the level of protection required. Then we will take an impression of your teeth by placing a tray of impression material in your mouth. The material will harden to give us an impression of your teeth. After this, we will take the impression to a specialist laboratory where your mouthguard will be made. When it is ready, we will have you test it to be sure it is comfortable and fits very well. Our mouthguards have protective capabilities and are very durable.

Use The Professionals

When getting any kind of mouthguard, it is best to get one that has been professionally made just for you. This helps to make the guard more comfortable and, in the case of sports mouthguards, it will provide effective protection. They may cost a little more than off-the-shelf mouthguards, but the extra safety is well worth the price.

When getting a mouthguard, you should make sure it is comfortable, tear-resistant, resilient and dependable. It should not restrict your speech and breathing and should fit properly in your mouth.
